Fire Prevention at PCS
October 12, 2016
On Wednesday October 12th the Roxana and Selbyville Volunteer Fire Companies held Fire Prevention at Phillip C Showell Elementary School. Throughout the day students were given fire truck rides, discussed fire prevention topics, and participated in demonstrations. Students participated in backboard demonstrations and learned how to extinguish a grease fire. The day ended with the annual Bucket Brigade Race, where 5th grade students race to put on fire gear fill a bucket with water and race to the other end to be the first to fill a barrel. This event has been a tradition for Phillip C Showell 5th graders for decades and the winning class receives the Golden Bucket! All students enjoyed the day and were able to learn valuable fire prevention methods and fire safety.
