Blazing a Trail for Literacy

This morning Roxana VFC recognized the top 3 readers in each grade at Phillip C Showell as part of the "Blazing a Trail for Literacy" pilot program.

The top readers from each grade (K-5) were welcomed at Headquarters this morning for a fire truck ride to breakfast. Students rode to Countryside Cafe for breakfast provided by owners John and Monica Tartufo. Students enjoyed the amazing breakfast at the Emergency Service themed restaurant.

After breakfast they rode to PCS in the fire truck to be greeted by all the students! The students assembled in the gymnasium where the top 3 readers in each grade were presented with awards.

3rd place received a custom monogrammed lunch bag.
2nd place received the lunch bag and a customized bookbag.
1st place received all of the above and breakfast this morning.

Congratulations again to all of the students for committing to reading outside of the classroom. All together PCS students read 29,625 minutes in 21 days.
