Working Structure Fire - Swann Keys

On Wednesday December 10, 2008 at 9:23 pm., the Roxana Volunteer Fire Co. along with Bethany Beach, Millville Volunteer Fire Co. and Sussex County Paramedics were dispatched to a structure fire in the 31900 block of Laws Point Road in Swann Keys. Command 90 with Asst. Chief Guy Hudson (90-16) was advised of a working structure fire in the area that was called in by a person that had been walking by the location and noticed smoke and a glow in the windows. At 9:29 pm Command 90 and Engine 90-1 went on location with smoke showing. The crew from Eng. 90-1 under the command of Captain Chris Magee (90-23) advanced a 1 3/4" hand line in the front door of the structure and encountered heavy smoke conditions inside and found fire in the rear of the structure. Engine/Tanker 90-4 arrived and pulled a back up line and supplied Eng. 90-1. Command 70 with Asst. Chief Shane Truitt assumed the operations. The structure fire was put under control at 9:40 pm with units from Bethany Beach and Millville assisting on scene. The fire is under investigation by the Delaware State Fire Marshal's Office. The structure was not occupied at the time of the fire and no injuries occured.
